I had such an amazing shoot today with a very beautiful and fun client who has been following my work since last year. She was beyond photogenic but she was also so very patient. I was excited to play around with studio lighting today, which I loved. To a natural light photographer, a lighting setup it can be very intimidating, but I have been wanting to learn for a while for a few reasons. One, so not to be as limited with when I can shoot. I hate the restricted daylight hours when Winter hits, but I also wanted to add a beautiful diversity to my photos. I have always been an advocate of natural lighting – but it’s because I have learned how to use it and build my brand on it and I think it’s super easy for a photographer to learn, especially one on a budget (Free Sun!). Now, it’s time to look beyond that and offer more to my clients as well as no longer being scared to learn new and intimidating things.
The setup on these was simple (2 lights) but took a bit of tweaking and my lovely client was all for me trying new things. I promised her that it would be worth it and she would be offered a wide range of options when it came to her proofs and well, her email to me after seeing her sneak peeks proved that it was totally worth it.
Here are just a few shots from today using both studio lighting and natural lighting (I will list above each shot which was used). I’m sure this means more to photographers than clients, but just look at the photos we were able to produce that you might not have been able to receive before because of the restrictions with using only natural lighting. I’m so excited to implement it into my future work and learn new ways of making YOU shine!![]()
A big thank you to my beautiful lady for allowing me to share these with you.
